The Insane Power of NFLABS
In my last post, I talked about the Law of Dieting Karma, AKA the LDK, or eL DonKey. No truer a truth is there than LDK! That said, there is a complimentary principle that has insane power. That principle is the "No Fury Like A Body Scorned" rule, AKA NFLABS. NFLABS is your body's reaction to being lied to. You know, like when you promise it a delicious cupcake, but secretly sweeten it with fake sugar? Much like our collective reaction to fake news, your body has a nose for being lied to and can detect fake sugar from a mile away. What happens when you promise your body one thing and swap it for something that's definitely not-at-all the same? Rage...pure rage.
Imagine a child in full Halloween costume and face paint, ready to head out for the Best Night of the Year (next to Christmas). What happens when you tell said child there will be no more Trick or Treating on Halloween? Crying? Tantrums? Begging? Of course...but next, when none of those work to change the unthinkable? Rage...pure, unfiltered rage. THAT is the kind of rage we are talking about when you try to trick your body into thinking you just gave it candy. Your body is furious and demands immediate reparations. The call for justice is activated by switching on uncontrollable cravings and binge eating, which results in a tornadic frenzy as you locate and eat every candy bar, cookie and cupcake within a five-mile radius.
When the real-sugar crash happens (which it will...) and your eyes un-glaze, you will be horrified to realize two things. First - the sheer magnitude of what has happened; and second - how that is going to negatively impact the scale. Its a weighty problem (pun intended). That, my friends, is NFLABS in a honey-roasted peanut shell. NFLABS has been directly responsible for at least 50 pounds of my unwanted weight gain over the years. Stupid NFLABS! ðŸ˜
Tune in for my next blog entry, where there will be more truisms and laws that are abbreviated, then given quirky but memorable nicknames. I will also share more about my experiences with being obese and trying to defeat the beast! 😄 Until then, stay safe and stay well! - Steph AKA The Pudgy Nurse 😊
